I love the way light and shadow falls on buildings. At the time I knew I wanted to capture the light but wasn't yet sure how to capture the buildings themselves.

This one is my favourite of the lot. The reference is a building down the street from where I used to live. I took a photo while walking my dog and painted it while on the train.

Still picking at this one – I’ve come a long way since I painted these. I think I would approach them differently now, but I still find things I love in each of them. Something I haven’t captured yet—I don’t think I’ve even tried—is when light from windows across from a building reflects on a wall. I love the often organic shapes the light makes, knowing that it comes from a geometric shape.
